I originally studied fine art painting at Bath Academy of Art. An interest in printmaking somehow led me to the darkroom however, and a lifelong love of photography. Self-taught, I have spent countless days in darkrooms of one kind or another, usually in the most unpromising locations. Somehow, I realised that it was possible to almost make a living from my photography. From shooting for local bands, theatre groups, designers and artists, I became a fashion photographer, based in London, working editorially for UK magazines. Family life brought a reassessment of priorities however and led to a reinvention as an art educator in both university and schools. In turn, this has allowed me to pursue more long term, personal photographic projects for exhibition or publication.

Having now left full-time education, I divide my time between longer term personal photographic projects and shooting for artists and makers. I currently have several personal projects I am developing for exhibition and/or towards some form of publication – very exciting! In 2024, I held my first solo show, featuring my Mannequin series.

I also provide images for artists, creatives and makers, of key pieces of work for websites, new products and portraits. In terms of a specialism, I have rediscovered a love of ceramics (it started at college)!
